DLR and IMBOS - Membership to strengthen societal resilience

Since January 2026, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has been an official member of IMBOS e.V.

IMBOS (Information Management for Public Safety Authorities and Organizations) was founded as an association based in Berlin with the goal of creating a digital platform for the exchange and networking of critical data from fire departments, rescue services, and disaster relief agencies throughout Europe. Initiated by the OPTSAL Innovation Lab, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) joined as a full member at the beginning of the year.

The association fosters a community and a willingness among its members to provide situation-relevant data and information to all emergency services, particularly in the public interest of safety.

The aim is to have critical data available at any time and in any location to effectively manage situations and organize operations. The IMBOS platform acts as a neutral entity and is relevant for all services involved in public safety. For OPTSAL's mission to promote knowledge exchange and technology transfer, two areas of activity are particularly important: contributing to interface standardization and collaborating within the IMBOS Taskforce as part of the Disaster Response Program.

Membership offers significant potential for transferring DLR technologies into practical applications and for sustainably strengthening civil security and disaster relief.
